Since I moved in with Het Derde Servies on January 1, 2024, the demand for napkin rings has increased dramatically. Long live cohabitation :-) So whenever I come across napkin rings while shopping, I immediately grab them. The same goes for the Danish Hornevarefabrikken: besides those adorable salt, caviar, and egg spoons, they also make napkin rings from cow horns! Beautifully polished and beautifully finished. A truly lovely addition to your table setting.

All unique

Horn is a natural product, and all napkin rings have their own unique look. This isn't a problem with napkin rings, of course; after all, you want everyone to recognize their own!
The color can vary from white-gray to black-brown, with everything in between. I don't know in advance which napkin rings I'll receive. You also don't know in advance which napkin ring(s) you'll receive with an order. Let us surprise you! (Or come to the store and try them out yourself!)

Craftsmanship and tradition

These horn napkin rings are made in Denmark. Hornevarefabrikken has existed for over 200 years and regularly reinvents itself, while maintaining the tradition of horn processing. The craft of horn processing is still highly valued, but there is also a focus on innovation. These napkin rings were designed in 2012 by Sara Brunn Buch, one of the two owners of Hornevarefabrikken. There is a strong focus on people: the factory always employs a number of people with disabilities. Finally, strict care is taken to ensure that the horns used are not by-products of meat processing.

Important tips for use and maintenance of the horn spoons:

• Clean the napkin rings only when necessary under lukewarm running water, without soap or other cleaning agents.
• Dry the items immediately.
• Never put horn objects in the dishwasher.
• Never soak horn objects in water for extended periods. You can immerse them in cold or lukewarm water, but no more than that.
• Dry the items immediately.
• Never use hot water.
• Do not leave the horn items in liquids for extended periods of time, e.g. jam, salads or dressings - for the duration of the meal is fine.
• Do not leave horn objects in direct sunlight or near heat sources.
• Old horn objects such as old tablespoons etc. should be given a thin layer of oil from time to time to prevent them from drying out.
