Another floral tableware set! And there weren't thousands of them yet?!

Yes, and yet I bought it. Because usually, floral tableware is ultra-pretty. And I don't like that. But this Bloom tableware from the Portuguese company Duro Ceramics is anything but. Despite the soft colors and the flowers, I even think it has a somewhat edgy quality. I think it's because of the robust shapes and the visible brushstrokes. The earthenware plates are organically shaped, making them all unique. But they stack perfectly!

White flowers on gray with pink

The dinner plate from the Bloom series is predominantly gray, with a few delicate white flowers and leaves. The gray is edged with pink and finished with a green border. The exterior is natural. Unlike the breakfast and cake plates, the Bloom dinnerware comes in only one flavor.

Nice thick glaze layer

Due to the slightly bumpy surface of this earthenware, the colors vary in intensity here and there. The indentations are slightly darker. This creates a beautiful effect, especially thanks to a nice, thick glaze that also makes the plates feel wonderful. Oh, and another advantage is that the plates are dishwasher, oven, and microwave-safe. Just be careful not to put them directly from the freezer into a very hot oven. The dinner plate has a high, raised rim.

Made of earthenware

The Bloom tableware is made in Portugal by Duro Ceramics, a family business. Originally, they made everything from earthenware, and this tableware is also made from it. This means it's pleasantly warm, unlike porcelain, which often feels a bit cold. The downside of earthenware is that it chips more easily, meaning shards break off the edges when you bump them together. That's something to keep in mind when buying this tableware. Some people swear by earthenware, while others consciously choose porcelain. Which type are you? Or do you simply choose what you like?
