They look like they're carved from wood, but they're actually made of resin, meticulously painted, and subtly crafted so they look like they've been around for a while. So you could invent a nice story for them :-)

The beautiful hats of Caspar, Balthazar, and Melchior are designed with metal cups that fit a standard candle. These three kings are, of course, connected to the Christmas story and therefore deserve a prominent place in your home around Christmas. You can put them back in the attic after January 6th. But consider leaving the men where they are. If I were to put them in my home, I'd put one in the hallway by the front door, one on the kitchen island, and one on the low cabinet next to the fireplace.
