Brio cutlery lasts for years. Especially if you put it in the dishwasher with the plastic handles facing up in the cutlery basket. This way, the plastic will last even longer. Oh, and always make sure you have enough rinse aid in the dishwasher, otherwise the cutlery can turn white.
