Siirtolapuutarha fabric for tablecloth with acrylic coating from Marimekko

This is one of my favorite tablecloth designs from Marimekko, the green-blue Siirtolapuutarha. I think it's because, as a child of the 70s, I grew up with such large patterns in vibrant colors. And I still love them.

City that flows into nature

Maija Louekari's Siirtolapuutaha design dates back to 2009. This entire series tells the story of the transition from a bustling city to the natural beauty of a lush, overgrown allotment garden.

This tablecloth is easy to keep clean

These cotton tablecloths are screen-printed in-house at Marimekko in Helsinki. They're then treated with an acrylic coating. This allows you to easily wipe away spilled food and drinks with a damp cloth. This means the tablecloth almost never needs to be washed! If you do want to wash it, you can do so at 40 degrees Celsius. I recommend hanging it out while still wet and ironing it on the reverse side if necessary.

Sometimes a coating is better

A linen or cotton tablecloth is beautiful, of course, but for certain occasions or with certain guests, a tablecloth with a wipeable coating is a much better solution. Spilt a cup of hot chocolate? Spilled jam or sauce? Just wipe it down with a damp cloth and you're done!
