Olive trees and bright blue olives

Funny, right? I consider an olive tree tablecloth like this to be something typically French, even though it could just as easily be Portuguese, Spanish, or any other Mediterranean style. But anyway, French it is. And, which I personally find extra nice, not little black olives but a lovely blue. Otherwise, I think it would have been a bit of a dull affair.

French flair

A French family in the Pyrenees. Decades ago, father Bruno Lamy visited Rajasthan and fell in love with the beautiful block print fabrics made there. Inspired by the block printing technique and the character of the hand-printed fabrics, he started working on it himself upon returning to France. He drew his inspiration from the colorful, floral nature in the south of France. And behold, some 40 years later, this Jardin on the table.

Block prints from India

Couleur Nature still designs the patterns in the South of France. After that, the tablecloths are printed in Jaipur (by the same families for many years). The blocks used for this are carved from wood by hand. Depending on the size of the patterns and the various colors that appear in the design, a huge number of stamps are applied per tablecloth. You can understand that with such a pattern with many colors as you see here, it takes a lot of knowledge, skill, and experience to deliver such a beautiful product as this!

Only rectangular and square

This tablecloth comes in many sizes. I don't have them all in stock for now, but I can have them sent over from France extremely quickly. The tablecloth is not available in round. At Couleur Nature, they are of the opinion that the patterns they make look beautiful even on a round or oval table. I have to say that I agree with that. The edges along these tablecloths are part of their character. And these look really great even on round and oval tables! Just take a look at the photos of the round and oval table.

Not just tablecloths, but also runners and placemats (tea towels and aprons might come later or upon special request). There is also a runner or a set of placemats in this beautiful design. All equally beautiful, with the same block print. The table runner is 45 x 180, the placemats are 37 x 47 cm and these are sold in sets of 2.

Washing and maintenance instructions for Couleur Nature block print tablecloths

• Machine wash at a maximum of 30°C or 40°C using a delicate cycle to preserve the colors.
• Do not use bleach or optical brighteners.
• Avoid fabric softener, as this can dull the colors over time.
• Iron on the reverse side at a moderate temperature (setting for cotton/wool) to maintain the vibrancy of the print.
• If possible, air dry in the shade.
• Avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight; the colors may fade.
