Figs on the table, irresistible!

A lady walked in looking for a very specific tablecloth. After quite a bit of Googling, we found it. And more!! Because once I had found this brand, Couleur Nature, I was completely hooked. One tablecloth even more colorful, surprising, and different from the others I already have!

About Couleur Nature Creation

A French family in the Pyrenees. Decades ago, father Bruno Lamy visited Rajasthan and fell in love with the beautiful block-print fabrics made there. Inspired by the technique of block printing and the character of hand-printed fabrics, he started working on it himself upon returning to France. He drew his inspiration from the colorful, floral nature of the south of France. And here we are, some 40 years later: figs and fig leaves on the table... still quintessentially French!

Block prints from India

Couleur Nature still designs its patterns in the south of France. Afterwards, the tablecloths are printed in Jaipur (by the same families for many years). The blocks used for this are carved from wood by hand. Depending on the size of the designs and the various colors present in the pattern, a huge number of stamps are applied per tablecloth. You can imagine that even—or perhaps especially—with a large pattern like this, it requires a great deal of knowledge, skill, and experience to deliver such a magnificent product!

Figs and fig leaves

Figs often mark the transition between summer and autumn (although they were here very early this year with the hot summer). You can pick them during the day and even pop them into your mouth while still warm from the sun. But the season is slowly coming to an end, and the days are getting shorter fast.

Only rectangular and square

This tablecloth comes in many sizes. For now, I don't have them all in stock, but I can have them brought over from France in a flash. The tablecloth is not available in round. At Couleur Nature, they believe that the designs they create look beautiful even on a round or oval table. I must say I agree. The borders along these tablecloths are part of their character and good design. It is precisely those borders that look so good on round and oval shapes!

Not just tablecloths, but also runners and placemats (tea towels and aprons may come later or upon special request). This beautiful design is also available as a runner or a set of placemats. All equally beautiful, with the same fig block print. The table runner is 45 x 180, the placemats are 37 x 47 cm and these are sold in sets of 2.

Washing and care instructions for Couleur Nature block-print tablecloths

• Machine wash at a maximum of 30°C or 40°C on a delicate cycle to preserve the colors.
• Do not use bleach or optical brighteners.
• Avoid fabric softener, as it can dull the colors over time.
• Iron on the reverse side at a moderate temperature (cotton/wool setting) to maintain the vibrancy of the print.
• If possible, let air dry in the shade.
• Avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight, as the colors may fade.
