Reference to the masterpieces of Royal Delft

I especially love the idea behind this series. Royal Delft has a huge collection of iconic designs in its archive. Many of these designs are still hand-painted today by their masters on their beautiful items. This is also the case for the beaker vase, often as part of a complete garniture set; two beaker vases and a lidded jar. Many of these items are true works of art. They are beautiful to look at and probably a nice investment piece if you know what I mean, but it certainly makes them out of reach for the general public.

Transferware

I wrote 'transferring' above, and that is exactly the crux behind these mugs. The beaker vase to which this Blue Master mug refers is hand-painted to order. The mugs, on the other hand, are 'transferware'. This means that the images are applied to the porcelain like a kind of sticker. Afterward, it is glazed and fired at a very high temperature. This makes your mug completely suitable for daily use. It is dishwasher and microwave safe. So you can use it to the fullest!
