I especially love the idea behind this series. Royal Delft has a huge collection of iconic designs in its archive. Many of these designs are still hand-painted by their masters on their beautiful items today. The lidded jar is one such example. Many of these items are true works of art. They are beautiful to look at and probably a nice investment piece if you know what I mean; in any case, it makes them inaccessible to the general public.

Transferware

I wrote 'transfer' above, and that is precisely the crux of these mugs. The lidded jar to which this Blue Master mug refers is hand-painted to order. The mugs, on the other hand, are 'transferware'. This means the images are applied to the porcelain like a type of sticker. It is then glazed and fired at a very high temperature. This makes your mug completely suitable for daily use. It is dishwasher and microwave safe. So you can enjoy it to the fullest!
