Marimekko teapot Musta Tamma with horses

A classic teapot, this Oiva teapot from Marimekko. It has a curved maple handle and a birch cap on the lid. I thought it was birch, for a Finnish feel, so to speak, but that turns out to be incorrect. A stoneware tea strainer is hidden under the lid.

The year of the horse

And on this teapot, especially for the Year of the Horse (2026), is the Musta Tamma design by Maija Isola. A throwback to her childhood; in her dreams, running with herds of wild horses. The Musta Tamma design is in cheerful red and light blue.

Maintenance tips

The handle is made of wood. Once it loses its shine and becomes dry, it's recommended to treat it with a light olive oil. Let the oil soak in overnight and repeat the treatment as the wood absorbs more oil.

Wash the teapot thoroughly by hand after each use. This prevents tea stain buildup.

Keep the handle as dry as possible while washing!
