Figs on the table, irresistible!

A lady walked in and she wanted this tablecloth. It took a lot of searching, but I found them! A French family in the Pyrenees. Decades ago, father Bruno Lamy visited Rajasthan and fell in love with the beautiful block-print fabrics made there. Inspired by the block-printing technique and the character of the hand-printed fabrics, he returned to France and started working on his own designs. He drew his inspiration from the colorful, flowery nature of Provence. And look here, some 40 years later: figs and fig leaves on the table... still quintessentially French!

Block prints from India

Couleur Nature still designs its patterns in the South of France. After that, the tablecloths are printed in Jaipur (by the same families for many years). The blocks used for this are hand-carved from wood. Depending on the size of the designs and the different colors in the pattern, a huge number of stamps are applied per tablecloth. You can understand that even—or perhaps especially—with a pattern as large as the one you see here, a great deal of knowledge, skill, and experience is required to deliver such a beautiful product!

Figs and fig leaves

Figs often mark the transition between summer and autumn (though with this year's hot summer, they were out very early). You can pick them during the day and pop them into your mouth while they are still warm from the sun. But the season is slowly coming to an end, and the days are getting shorter fast.

Only rectangular and square

This tablecloth comes in many sizes. I don't have them all in stock for the time being, but I can have them brought over from France very quickly. The tablecloth is not available in round. At Couleur Nature, they believe that the designs they create look beautiful even on a round or oval table. I must say, I agree with them. The borders along these tablecloths are part of their character, and they look really lovely even on round and oval tables!

And runners & placemats

Not just tablecloths, but also runners and placemats (tea towels and aprons may come later or upon special request). This beautiful design is also available as a runner or a set of placemats. All equally wonderful, with the same fig block print. The table runner is 45 x 180 cm, the placemats are 37 x 47 cm, and these are sold in sets of 2.

Washing and care instructions for Couleur Nature block-print tablecloths

• Machine wash at a maximum of 30°C or 40°C on a delicate cycle to preserve the colors.
• Do not use bleach or optical brighteners.
• Avoid fabric softener, as this can dull the colors over time.
• Iron on the reverse side at a moderate temperature (cotton/wool setting) to maintain the vibrancy of the print.
• If possible, air dry in the shade.
• Avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight, as the colors may fade.
