This black and white Tiiliskivi removable tablecloth is incredibly practical: a coated cotton tablecloth that you can have cut to any length. Imagine how much less washing a coated tablecloth would save! Every time a spill occurs, you can simply wipe it clean with a dishcloth!

Simple design

How simple do you want it? Brick pattern—Tiiliskivi means brick in Finnish—in black and white. For the purists among us, who shun frills and nonsense. The design is by Armi Ratia, the woman who founded Marimekko some 70 years ago. It symbolizes the beauty you can often find in the simple everyday life. I think it's a wonderful philosophy and a particularly beautiful design. You'll be amazed at how well it combines with so many other styles, colors, and patterns.

Practical and beautiful

These cotton tablecloths are screen-printed in-house at Marimekko in Helsinki. They're then treated with an acrylic coating. This ensures that spilled food and drinks can easily be wiped away with a damp cloth. This means the tablecloth almost never needs to be washed! If you do want to wash it, you can do so at 40 degrees Celsius. I recommend hanging it out while still wet and ironing it on the reverse side if necessary.

Another practical tip: do you also often find your large table covered in homework, your laptop, the newspaper, library books, and six magazines that you're (not) reading simultaneously? Try turning the tablecloth a quarter turn. If four of you are dining, the tablecloth will then be wide enough. You'll still have a nice tablecloth on the table, without having to move everything! And so—I know, I'm shooting myself in the foot, but I'd like to give you another tip—you often don't need the entire length of the table at all when you order such a practical tablecloth!
