The red Unikko almost completely disappeared from the Marimekko menu in recent years. Whatt!!??? But thankfully, it's making a comeback. For me, it's an indispensable element in the Marimekko Oiva series, the tableware that never ends. For over 15 years, new items have been added all the time. New designs, new colors, but always in keeping with what's already available. In design and color, but also in shape. So now, not new, but a golden oldie is being added back!

About the Unikko print

Marimekko's famous Unikko pattern originated in 1964, at a time when the fashion house's collections primarily featured abstract prints. Designer Maija Isola wanted to create something interesting with this organic theme and—completely against the wishes of Marimekko founder Armi Ratia—designed a complete series of floral prints. Today, this iconic poppy symbolizes creativity.
