Marimekko Oiva Siirtolapuutarha dinner plate white with dusty pink dots (Rasymatto) | Ø 25 cm

Marimekko white dinner plate with dusty pink dots

Please note: this item is only available in limited quantities and is already sold out in Finland. If you like it, grab it right away ;-)

This Oiva dinner plate features dusty pink dots around the rim. The plate is nice and sturdy, with a beautifully curved rim. Compared to most tableware, the pieces of the Oiva tableware stand fairly high above the table, making them almost look like they are floating. Very beautiful!

Super practical tableware

Sami Ruotsalainen laid the foundation for Marimekko's Oiva tableware. When designing it, he not only took aesthetics into account, but also usability, especially stackability and the fact that it had to be suitable for everyday use, played an important role.

Mix and match!

Something else practical and durable is that the tableware always consists of the same pieces with the same shape. This means all the dinner plates fit together and match perfectly in shape. The black-and-white Rasymatto tableware can be beautifully complemented by these dusty pink Siirtolapuutarha plates (which, by the way, are only available for a very short time). A soft contrast to the perhaps somewhat strict black-and-white.

About the Siirtolapuutarha design

Siirtolapuutarha is the Finnish word for allotment garden or city garden, the symbiosis of the city and nature. This enormous series was released in 2009 and was designed by Maija Louekari. You can see cups with tall flats, mugs with lush leaves, and everything in between. This Rasymatto print is part of the Siirtolapuutarha series. At first glance, I thought it was a string of beads. But it is a stylized representation of one of Finland's national icons, the rag rug. The cheerful flooring of almost all summer cottages in the countryside and in the allotment garden complexes. Look closely again, the dots are the fabric strips peeking out from between the warp threads - if you know what I mean ;-)

Stoneware, nice and sturdy

The entire Oiva tableware is made of stoneware, a sturdier material than earthenware. Great for everyday use: it can go in the dishwasher, microwave, oven, and freezer. Just make sure not to put the tableware directly from the freezer into a hot oven. The material cannot withstand that.
