Wooden napkin linnet (common linnet)
Everyone has their own napkin ring. This way, after dinner, you can neatly roll up your napkin and slide it into the ring. And you can simply reuse it the next day. To ensure everyone gets their own napkin back the next day, it's helpful if everyone chooses a different napkin ring. You the kneu? I'd never heard of the kneu. I did hear the English name: common linnet. Curious to know why common linnets are called that? You can read the whole story on the Vroege Vogels website.
And not unimportant... such a charming wooden napkin ring would look absolutely lovely on your table. And what a beautiful bird, that linnet, also known as the heikneuter (or haven't you read the story yet?!).
Designed in Sweden, hand carved in China
In Manchuria, winters are cold and dark. The farmers immersed themselves in woodcarving indoors during the winters. This allowed them to earn some extra income by making spoons, plates, and so on. This craft is still very much alive. In Sweden, the designs are made; in China, they are proudly carved from limewood and painted with environmentally friendly paint.
